Diet App

Calorie count app

A calorie and macronutrient tracking app developed entirely in Swift for iOS.

🧠 Project Overview

This application was the final project for one of my Master’s courses. It was a comprehensive challenge designed to apply everything I had learned about iOS app design and development using Swift and its native design patterns.

🍽️ Purpose of the App

The goal of the app was to help users manage their daily diet by logging the foods they consumed throughout the day. Unlike basic calorie counters, this app provided detailed macronutrient analysis, breaking down:

  • Calories
  • Carbohydrates
  • Proteins
  • Fats

This allowed users to follow a more precise and effective dietary plan based on their nutritional goals.

🛠️ Technologies and Patterns Used

  • Language: Swift
  • Platform: iOS
  • Design patterns: Adopted native iOS architectural practices for cleaner code and scalability.
  • UI/UX: Simple and intuitive interface focused on quick food input and real-time feedback.

🚀 What Did I Learn?

  • Applied MVC (Model-View-Controller) and other common Swift design principles.
  • Deepened my understanding of nutritional logic and how to structure data input for meaningful insights.
  • Designed and built a fully functional iOS app from scratch, including state management, data validation, and user interface flows.

🎯 Final Thoughts

This project was a great culmination of my Swift development learning journey. It not only tested my technical abilities, but also challenged me to think critically about real-world user needs and how technology can help improve personal health.
