Air Hockey Videogame
Air hockey clone game
A fast-paced multiplayer Air Hockey game built using Apple's SpriteKit framework.
🧠 Project Overview
This project was developed during the Video Games course in the Master's in Software Engineering at the University of Alicante. The goal was to create a simple yet entertaining multiplayer experience using native iOS game development tools.
🎮 Gameplay
- Two players can play against each other on separate Apple devices, either via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
- The interface is minimal and intuitive, allowing for quick pick-up-and-play sessions.
- The first player to reach 5 points wins the match.
- The game uses real-time physics to simulate the puck’s movement, making matches smooth and responsive.
🛠️ Technologies Used
- SpriteKit: Apple’s 2D game development framework used for rendering, physics, and animations.
- MultipeerConnectivity: Enables peer-to-peer communication over Bluetooth/Wi-Fi for real-time multiplayer.
- Swift: All logic and interactions were developed using Swift for iOS devices.
🔍 What Did I Learn?
- How to implement real-time multiplayer logic with minimal latency.
- Basics of 2D physics simulation using SpriteKit.
- How to manage Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections for multiplayer using native iOS APIs.
- Improved skills in designing responsive UI for dynamic gameplay.
🎯 Final Thoughts
This project was a great introduction to game development on iOS, particularly with SpriteKit and MultipeerConnectivity. Despite its simplicity, it challenged me to think about networking, physics, and user experience in a small but complete game loop.
