Data Analysis

Python program using ML and several traditional methods for predict solutions.

A Python-based project applying machine learning and traditional data analysis techniques to predict solutions.

🧠 Project Overview

This was my first machine learning project developed in Python, focused on learning how to handle datasets, apply predictive algorithms, and analyze results using both traditional statistical techniques and modern ML models. It served as a foundational exercise in data science and model development.

🎯 Objectives

  • Understand the core principles of supervised machine learning.
  • Explore and compare traditional methods (e.g. linear regression, decision trees) with modern ML algorithms.
  • Get hands-on experience with data preprocessing, feature selection, and model evaluation.
  • Tune model performance through hyperparameter adjustment and cross-validation.

🛠️ Technologies Used

  • Python
  • Pandas: For data wrangling and cleaning.
  • NumPy: For numerical operations.
  • Matplotlib / Seaborn: For data visualization.
  • Scikit-learn: For training, evaluating, and comparing different ML models.

📊 Key Features

  • Data import and cleansing pipeline.
  • Feature engineering and normalization.
  • Application of multiple prediction models:
    • Linear Regression
    • Decision Trees
    • K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN)
    • Random Forests
  • Evaluation metrics: Accuracy, Mean Squared Error, Confusion Matrix.

🚀 What I Learned

  • How to go from raw data to meaningful predictions through a structured ML workflow.
  • The strengths and limitations of various algorithms.
  • Best practices in evaluating model performance and avoiding overfitting.
  • The importance of understanding the data domain to make better modeling decisions.

💬 Final Thoughts

This project was a turning point in my learning journey, opening the door to the world of machine learning and data-driven problem solving. It provided a strong foundation for more advanced projects and research involving AI and predictive modeling.
